Meet & Greet Tips :)

Meet outside

Introduce your dog to the walker in a familiar yet neutral setting, such as outside your home. Avoid introducing them inside your house, where your dog might feel territorial or protective.

Allow your dog to approach at their own pace

Let your dog approach the walker on their own terms. Don’t force any interaction; this gives your dog the opportunity to sniff and assess the walker at a comfortable distance.

use positive reinforcement

Food is your friend. During the introduction, reward your dog with treats or high-value food for calm and positive behavior. This helps create a positive association with the walker. Let your walker know where they can find these treats to use during the service. This can be helpful for the walker when they are leashing up your dog or encouraging them along the walk.

show your pet pro where everything is located

It’s helpful for the Pet Pro to know where everything is located in your home for the dog so they do not need to go searching for items such as the dog’s walking equipment, food, treats, or gear for rainy or snow days.

Discuss your dog’s preferences with the walker

Share any important details about your dog’s behavior, likes, dislikes, and habits with the walker. This includes things like your dog’s favorite treats, walk routines, and any sensitivities (e.g., fear of certain sounds or other dogs).
